Every April, Laos celebrates Pi Mai Lao (ປີໃໝ່ລາວ), the traditional Buddhist New Year. What begins as a respectful ritual of pouring scented water over Buddha statues, monks, and elders transforms into one of the world's largest water fights. Armed with buckets, water guns, and flower water, we joined the celebrations by visiting temples, receiving blessings from monks, and engaging in a few friendly battles along the way.
